Delaware Online – State should pass ‘biosimilar’ bill for patient safety

For patients who are uninsured or underinsured, new treatments on the cutting edge of medicine called biosimilars have the potential to expand access and save lives. In Delaware, our General Assembly members are currently considering legislation that will introduce biosimilars to the state in a way that protects the safety of patients fighting multiple sclerosis, HIV, hepatitis C, and for me, rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases. A companion bill passed recently by the state Senate is currently awaiting action from the House. Specifically, the bill mandates important new safeguards for biosimilars.
