Good afternoon. My name is Mariah Leach. I want to thank the Colorado Senate Health & Human Services Committee for allowing me to speak today. I live in Louisville, CO and I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis six years ago.
Clearly, there is a real need to ensure the safe and warranted use of prescription pain medications. Yet while regulators debate access restrictions, a part of the conversation that remains unheard is what access limitations mean for patients very much in need of appropriately prescribed medications.
Much cheaper, life-saving drugs could become available this year. They are called biosimilars and are copycat versions of drugs for diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, breast cancer and psoriasis….
There’s an issue quietly taking place in state legislatures all across the country. You may not have heard much about it – but if you are a patient living with rheumatoid arthritis it is an issue that will be very likely to affect you in the not too distant future.
