26 Patient Groups Support Bill to Stabilize and Strengthen the Affordable Care Act

“Our organizations, which collectively represent millions of patientsand consumers, wholeheartedly support thisimportantlegislation to strengthen and expandhealth care for all Americans. “The ACAmade great strides in improving health care in our nationbybreaking down the barriersto coverage faced by people with chronic disease, disability, and other serious health conditions. Repeated attempts to weaken the ACA have resurrected some of those barriers and put the stability of the ACA insurance marketsat risk.We adamantly oppose the position of the Administration onthe Texas v. U.S.ruling and urge legislative action, like this bill, to strengthen the provisions within the ACA that limit out of pocket costs and assert patient protections. “This bill would take concrete steps to reduce costs for consumers;ensurequality coverage;support enrollment and outreach, includingexpansion of the Health Care Navigator program;and eliminateshort-term, limited-duration plans, which discriminate against individuals with pre-existing conditions.“The ACA represented major progress toward ensuring all people with pre-existing conditionshave access to affordable health care. This bill improves uponthe law’s foundation to make that goal a reality.”###Adult Congenital Heart Association American Cancer Society Cancer Action NetworkAmerican Heart Association American Liver Foundation American Lung Association Arthritis Foundation COPD FoundationCrohn’s & Colitis Foundation Cystic Fibrosis Foundation EpilepsyFoundation Family VoicesGlobal Healthy Living Foundation Hemophilia Federation of AmericaImmune DeficiencyFoundationLeukemia & Lymphoma Society March of DimesNational Alliance on Mental IllnessNational Coalition for Cancer Survivorship National Health Council National Hemophilia Foundation National Multiple Sclerosis Society National Organization for Rare Disorders National Patient Advocate Foundation National Psoriasis Foundation Susan G.
